LOW AND SLOW SINCE 1929. This is Larry Morlock's Pietenpol Air Camper project. The Air Camper was designed by Bernard Pietenpol in 1929 and has been a popular homebuilt design for the last 70 years. Fuselage, landing gear and engine installation are complete, wing and tailfeathers still to come. |
| Fellow EAA member Ron Huddleston has been a big help in getting the project to this point. The Pietenpol was the first practical homebuilt airplane to be powered by an inexpensive, readily available automobile engine - the Model A Ford engine. Larry has been a pilot since 1975 and owned Model A Fords since 1955, so what better way to combine two hobbies than a Model A Ford powered airplane! |
