OSHKSOH 2006
Oshkosh started uneventfully. After much planning and worrying about
the arrival, I coaxed friend and SkyArrow builder Jim Zigan into right
seat spotter duties. We departed Columbus just before dawn on Sunday,
arriving OSH around 7:30 am. The expected Battle of Britain traffic
consisted of a 172 2 miles ahead, and no one behind. The 172 got 27R, I
got 18L, and a nice normal approach. Since I was alone I was not
assigned a dot, so I picked the numbers instead. I was given a mile of
grass taxiing for my choice.
On Monday I held a forum on the EFIS, which was attended by about 75.
Several folks have followed up with further interest. My presentation is
here.
I parked in the Glasair booth at Harry's invitation. Hundreds of
folks came by to see her. The first group of judges came by on Tuesday
while I was off touring the antiques contemplating choices for the next
project (a Waco RNF perhaps?) More judges came by on each of the
following days, and several request a look under the cowl. On Friday
afternoon I received a letter telling me that it would be to my benefit
to attend the awards ceremony!
Saturday night saw N59CL receive a Bronze
Lindy!
