Glasair Super-II FT N59CL

Mar01, 2 hours - Laid right side slot cap.

Mar01, 1 hour - Removed & cleaned up slot caps.

Mar01, 6 hours - Fabricated flap bridge top.  Laid flap hinge rear spar brackets, trimmed green.

Mar01, 6 hours - Filled & began forming wing top at bridge.  Cut access holes & re-installed flaps.  Trimmed aileron inboard cap to allow hardware access. Began reinstallation of ailerons.

Mar01, 2 hours - Completed aileron installation.  Found that the aileron actuator bolt interferes with the outboard leading edge of the flap, rough trimmed accordingly.

Mar01, 5 hours - Fabricated seatbelt brackets.  Located brackets & potted 20# foam in preparation for mounting.  To avoid working overhead, I'll complete the installation when the wing is flipped over.  Installed 2-layer precure in wingtip nav-lamp notch.

Mar01, 3 hours - Fit short wingtip lenses.  These are the colored lenses.  I'll be using clear on the extended tips.  Began trimming & fitting extended wingtips.

Mar01, 3 hours - Jigged & fit wingtip bottoms.  Fit main spar foam. I now must crawl under the wing to get from side to side, so I better move quickly on the tips!

Mar01, 9 hours - Trimmed wingtip tops to fit.  Laid main spar in place.  Laid up spar cap using top skin as a mold to get the curve right.  Sealed foam for wingtip recess & misc. end caps.

Mar01, 1 hour - Laid up one side of the cap panel.

Mar01, 2 hours - Laid up the balance of the cap panel.  Hit the flap extension with the heat gun, began shaping.

Mar01, 5 hours - Continued flap extension shaping.

Mar01, 5 hours - Bonded wingtip spar caps.  Began fabrication of nav/strobe light assembly.  This setup will fit in from inboard, rather than outboard as the plans show.  That way I'll be able to bond the lens permanently in place.
